Nine am on a Friday is a good time to be at the airport.

DCA is crowdless. Crowd-free? Uncrowded? However you say it, Friday at nine o'clock in the morning meant I got a seat to myself on the bus and the subway, I got personalized attention at the check-in kiosk, I sailed through the TSA checkpoint (would've been faster if my darn boots hadn't triggered the metal detector), and I had my choice of seating in the United Club. Typing while seated at a table is far more comfortable than balancing your screen and keyboard on your lap. Onboard bonus: there's no one in the middle seat.
